Make sure you have a valid form of ID/passport and that it is not expired before you travel.
In the event you arrive at the airport without acceptable identification (whether lost, stolen, or not RealID compliant), you may still be allowed to fly. Starting February 1, 2026, TSA offers ConfirmID.
“If you are unable to provide the required acceptable ID, such as a passport or REAL ID, you can pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID. TSA will then attempt to verify your identity so you can go through security; however, there is no guarantee TSA can do so. Please note: Using TSA ConfirmID is optional. If you choose not to use it and don’t have an acceptable ID, you may not be allowed through security and may miss your flight. Fraud or other criminal activity regarding this process will be processed under federal penalties.”
If your identity cannot be verified, you will not be allowed to enter past the screening checkpoint. For more information, please visit the TSA Security Screening webpage where you will find information about Real ID compliance, ConfirmID, travel readiness and so much more. To contact TSA directly, text the word “travel to AskTsa (275) 872 or call TSA (866) 289-9673. Representatives are available weekdays from 8 AM–11 PM ET and weekends and holidays from 9 AM–8 PM.
