Redmond, OR – Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) announces the award of their Food and Beverage Concessions contract to Tailwind Hospitality, Inc., following approval by the Redmond City Council on June 9, 2026.
A formal competitive solicitation of Request for Proposals (RFP) was conducted to identify a qualified operator for the Airport’s food and beverage concessions program. The proposals were scored based on organizational experience, concept design, operational and maintenance plans, customer service strategies, and financial capacity, in accordance with the City’s procurement requirements.
“Welcoming this new concessionaire marks an important milestone in our airport’s continued expansion,” remarks Mayor Ed Fitch. “Tailwinds demonstrated commitment to excellence and alignment with our region’s character reflects the high standards we uphold for our travelers and our community.”
Tailwind Hospitality, Inc. was selected for its demonstrated commitment to elevating local business partners and its longstanding presence in regional airport markets. Its proposal incorporated established local and regional brands aligned with RDM’s goals of representing the Central Oregon community. As the selected food and beverage concessionaire for the expanded terminal program, Tailwind will oversee Sisters Coffee, Bend Brewing, Sparrow Bakery, and others providing travelers with high quality offerings that reflect the region’s character and sense of place. Operations for the new concessions program will begin by the opening of the new terminal in November 2027.
An animated conceptual rendering of the new concession spaces is available at https://flyrdm.com/terminal-expansion/, under the New Food & Retail Options section and additional updates will be added as design and the build‑out progress.
City leadership emphasized the importance of local partnerships and community representation within the Airport’s concessions program.
“RDM continues to prioritize partnerships that reflect the identity and quality of our region. Tailwind’s approach brings forward local businesses that travelers already recognize and appreciate,” said Zachary Bass, Director at Redmond Municipal Airport. “Local businesses help us create a travel experience that is distinctly Central Oregon. We’re excited for our passengers to enjoy these local flavors as part of their journey.”
The Terminal Expansion Project is set to significantly improve capacity, passenger experience, and overall operational efficiency. The project represents the largest modernization effort in the airport’s history and is scheduled to open in November 2027. The expansion will add more than 80,000 square feet of new space, including over 6,000 square feet of new concessions space, and more than double the terminal passenger seating. Travelers will also benefit from enhanced accessibility, seven new jet bridges, expanded waiting areas, new restrooms, a state-of-the art companion care restroom, a post-security service animal relief area, and an advanced public address system for clearer communication. In addition, the project incorporates a comprehensive Public Art Program designed to create a strong sense of place through the expanded terminal.
