Redmond, OR – Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is preparing for another busy holiday travel season as seasonal passenger volumes continue to grow and construction begins on the airport’s terminal expansion project, set to enhance capacity and improve the traveler experience. With work now underway, travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for parking, check-in, and security screening this Thanksgiving through New Year’s holiday travel period.
Holiday travel is always a busy time, and this year we’re also managing construction impacts as we begin our terminal expansion,” Zachary Bass, Airport Director said. “We strongly encourage passengers to arrange transportation to and from the airport at least two weeks before the Thanksgiving travel week and to arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure to ensure a smooth experience.”
Due to construction activity, some parking areas may be temporarily reduced or rerouted, leading to limited availability during peak travel times. Travelers are encouraged to:Transportation Reminders
- Consider alternative transportation options such as shuttles, rideshares, taxis, or drop-offs from friends and family. A list of providers can be found on the airport website.
- Monitor parking availability on the airport’s website, updated regularly in the message scroll at the top of the page.
- Arrive early to allow time for parking, check-in, and TSA security screening, especially for flights departing between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Traveler Reminders
- TSA Checkpoint Hours: Opens at 3:45 a.m. and closes after the last scheduled flight daily.
- Boarding: All passengers must be in the gate area 15 minutes before departure.
- Ticket Counters: Airlines typically close baggage check 50 minutes before departure.
- Curbside Use: For active loading and unloading only; no parking or waiting is permitted.
- Winter Weather Preparedness: Allow extra time for driving and walking, wear proper footwear, dress in layers, and plan for slippery conditions.
The terminal expansion project, beginning in 2025, will increase capacity, enhance ADA accessibility, improve energy and operational efficiencies, and elevate the overall passenger experience. The Redmond Municipal Airport is currently served by four air carriers offering 30 direct flights. The main terminal is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
