Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel

Effective Monday, February 1, 2021.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued a Security Directive to airport operators, aircraft operators, and surface transportation providers. The Security Directives are intended to implement the CDC mask order in accordance with the Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel.

RDM encouraging all airport passengers to do a 14-day in-home self-quarantine upon arrival in Central Oregon.

With a surge in cases expected to intensify later this month, officials across the region are urging people to take steps to reduce the spread of contamination to alleviate pressures on our hospitals.  Consistent with this approach, the City of Redmond owned Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) will immediately begin encouraging all airport passengers to do a 14-day in-home self-quarantine upon arrival in Central Oregon.

Federal Guidance to Fly Healthy

The U.S. Departments of Transportation, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security and State have established a new web portal where airline passengers can obtain updated information on how to Fly Healthy .  The portal walks you through every step of the process: plan your travel; at the airport; aboard the aircraft; arrival at your destination, and returning home. 

Passengers making plans to return to air travel during the COVID-19 public health crisis are encouraged to visit the portal before heading to the airport. The experience as an airline passenger begins at home, planning and taking precautions to help everyone have a safe journey while preventing the spread of COVID-19.

REAL ID deadline extended.

Due to circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the national emergency declaration, the Department of Homeland Security is extending the REAL ID enforcement deadline by a year. The new deadline for REAL ID enforcement is October 1, 2021.
